TELUPID: The Telupid Health Clinic requires urgent upgrades, including improved X-ray services, additional ambulances, repairs to staff quarters, more healthcare personnel, and the implementation of electronic medical records.
Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Assistant Minister and Telupid assemblyman Datuk Jonnybone J. Kurum said the needs would be raised with the government for immediate action.
He noted that the clinic also serves patients from Tongod and surrounding areas, and should be upgraded into a hospital.
He spoke to reporters after a working visit to the clinic during the Sabah 2025 Targeted Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Carnival at the Telupid district level on Saturday.
Jonnybone also expressed hope that the hemodialysis unit currently under construction would be completed on schedule by April next year, easing access for kidney patients.
He added that maternal death cases have specific indicators, with some involving non-citizens who sought treatment late.
On district development, he said plans for a new Telupid town along the Pan Borneo Highway would proceed, expected to boost the local economy and create jobs for residents.
