TENOM: Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar spent the day meeting residents and small vegetable traders at the Tenom Tamu on Sunday as a gesture of thanks following his recent election win.
Jamawi, who claimed the Melalap seat with a 525-vote majority in the 17th Sabah state election, said he appreciated the strong support shown by voters during what he described as a challenging contest.
He also met Chinese Kapitans at a local coffee shop to listen to community concerns, accompanied by his wife Datin Zainatunnisa Ibrahim.
In a separate event, Jamawi officiated the closing of the Tenom Astaka Sepak Takraw Clinic and later attended the final match of the Tenom Super League Jamawi Jaafar Cup.
The programme was attended by local community leaders including Melalap District Chief Tusib Tulas and four Chinese Kapitans.
