KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission (EC) has thanked Sabah voters for fulfilling their democratic duty in the 17th Sabah Election held on Nov 29.
EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said on Monday that the smooth process was made possible through the cooperation of state and federal agencies, security forces, media personnel and all parties involved.

He said the EC was aware of several claims circulating on social media that cast doubt on the transparency of the electoral process.
Khairul stressed that all voting, counting and result-tabulation procedures were carried out with integrity and in full compliance with legal requirements, and were observed by political parties and accredited monitors.
He added that any disputes over the conduct or outcome of the election should be channelled through an election petition within 21 days of the results being gazetted.
