NABAWAN: About 3,000 residents from Nabawan and Pensiangan gathered on Thursday to welcome Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin in the final days of campaigning.
Villagers from Salinatan, Pensiangan, Babayasing, Saliu, Pagalungan and Sepulot greeted him with gong performances, a riverboat parade and a community talk at the local hall.
Ghani told the crowd that the strong turnout gave him confidence ahead of Saturday’s 17th Sabah state election.
He said GRS had prioritised safeguarding people’s rights, resolving land and mineral issues and strengthening state finances while continuing assistance programmes for communities of all backgrounds.
Ghani added that SMJ housing projects and religious support initiatives would also benefit residents in Pensiangan and Pagalungan due to improved road access, during the campaign event at the Pagalungan sub-district open hall.
