RANAU: The incumbent of the Karanaan State Assembly Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun urged the Federal Government to speed up the allocation for the construction of a new hospital in this district.
This, he said, is crucial in order to meet the growing health needs of the population within the district as well as surrounding areas.

With the new hospital in the future, Masidi hopes that the medical center will be equipped with specialist doctors and modern facilities to provide better facilities and health services to the community in this district.
“I had a chance to discuss this matter with the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when I accompanied him on his visit to inaugurate the new Block of Tawau Hospital a few days ago.
“I told him that the construction of a new hospital in this district is very much needed by the community in this district,” he said.
Masidi was speaking at the Relaxation Program with Elderly Members organized by the non-governmental organization (NGO) Kg Muhibbah Elderly Association, here recently.
He also hoped that the new hospital would be equipped with sufficient machines and medical equipment to facilitate and save the expenses of patients seeking treatment without the need to travel to Kota Kinabalu.
Among the proposed facilities are cancer scanners and other specialist treatment equipment.
“If there is a cancer scanning machine here, local residents, especially in this area, can undergo screening and early detection. This can indirectly help reduce the risk of cancer from becoming more serious,” he said.
He added that before the State Assembly (DUN) is dissolved, the state government will continue to help the registered poor, where they will receive assistance of RM300 in the next year.
According to him, this assistance can be implemented as a result of strong political stability that allows the people to continue to enjoy the benefits.
“To all the people of Sabah, let us together create political stability so that more progress can be achieved in this state.
“The state government has also built the MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Ranau, implemented the construction of a new road that is expected to be completed soon, as well as various other facilities that benefit the people,” he said.
In the program, Masidi also spent time saying hello to the elderly here. The senior citizens who attended also did not miss the opportunity to take a memorable photo with him.
