KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR Chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said Upko President Datuk Ewon Benedick’s resignation from the Federal Cabinet was premature, arguing he should have waited for next week’s Cabinet decision on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
Mustapha said no final decision had been made on whether to appeal the court ruling and that Ewon seemed to assume the outcome would be unfavourable.
He added that PKR respects Ewon’s decision, acknowledging it reflects Upko’s seriousness on the issue.
He reaffirmed Sabah PKR’s full support for the state’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, especially the 40 per cent revenue share.
