KOTA KINABALU: Six creative projects from Sabah have secured a total of RM900,000 under the Dana Pemangkin Generasi Madani fund, paving the way for 130 new job opportunities for local youths.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said the initiative was designed to support young talents in the state’s creative sector, including telemovie, documentary, and short film production.
She said Sabah’s emerging creative community — from filmmakers to digital storytellers — reflects the state’s growing role as a genuine voice in Malaysia’s creative landscape.
A total of RM5 million has been allocated under the fund through Finas to produce 55 creative works nationwide, expected to generate 1,250 jobs and enhance the industry’s competitiveness.
Teo also highlighted the success of Sabah-born director Ebi Kornelis, whose film
Syurga Dalam Botol has become the state’s highest-grossing production with RM1.7 million in box office earnings.
