Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering closer economic and trade relations between Sabah and Quanzhou, China, following a business exchange session with a visiting delegation of Quanzhou entrepreneurs.
SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew made the announcement after leading members of the Chamber’s committee in welcoming the group of business representatives at the SCCC office here recently.
The visiting entrepreneurs included several prominent figures from Quanzhou’s private sector: Luo Jinfa, founder of Quanzhou Building Materials City, who has already established a company in Sabah and obtained a business licence, with plans for long-term expansion in the region; his daughter, Luo Ying, President of BNI Fusheng Chapter, Quanzhou, overseeing domestic corporate development projects; and Luo Zhiping, General Manager of Quanzhou Shangyuan Trading Co., Ltd., specialising in PE water pipes, drainage pipes, pumps, valves, and construction materials.
Also present were Zeng Xiangqian, Head of Haomeisheng Doors and Windows Co., Quanzhou, which designs and produces steel, copper, and aluminium door and window systems; and Zeng Wenjin, Chairman of Zhongyuan (Quanzhou) Auction Co., Ltd., who also runs a biotechnology company producing fully biodegradable materials used in shopping bags, straws, and food packaging.
Liew extended a warm welcome to the Quanzhou delegation, thanking them for travelling long distances to visit Sabah and for their keen interest in the State’s investment environment.
He expressed appreciation for their support of the Chamber’s initiatives to promote bilateral cooperation.
He noted that Quanzhou is among China’s most dynamic cities in private sector development, with a strong entrepreneurial culture and innovative drive that Sabah can learn from.
“This dialogue will deepen mutual understanding, open doors for collaboration, and help both regions jointly promote economic and trade growth,” he said.
Liew added that Quanzhou enterprises possess strong expertise in sectors such as building materials, trading, door and window systems, auction services, and biotechnology.
He expressed hope that more practical partnerships will be formed with Sabah-based businesses in the near future.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on potential cooperation in supply chains for construction materials, market expansion for decorative products and applications of environmentally friendly biotech innovations.
The SCCC pledged to fully support Quanzhou enterprises by providing up-to-date investment and business facilitation information, establishing collaboration platforms and assisting Chinese companies seeking to set up operations in Sabah.
Liew emphasised that the engagement not only strengthened business ties between Sabah and Quanzhou but also laid a solid foundation for future cross-regional cooperation.
