Kota Kinabalu: It was a big turnout at this year’s XMultisport Duathlon KK City, which was held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) for the first time recently.
The annual event in its third year also saw the participation of athletes from Brunei, Sarawak and West Malaysia.
A total of seven categories were held and the men’s open sprint category was won by Yap Qi Yi followed by Kan Ee Hann and Azrul Khairi.
The top three winners in the women’s category were Suhaila Muhamad, Yasrinnur Yakub and Norazian Alai.
Randelle Royston Ma Qi Yuan captured the super sprint Under-16 boys’ race ahead of Mohd Radzmin Ryan Mohd Zakiyah and Xenres Hee Lok Yong, while Shannon Liaw Xiao Xuan was the only winner in the girls’ category.
In the senior sprint category, the men’s crown was won by Ammir Hassan Zainal and in second place was Samsuddin Sjaipuddin with Kevin Yuen in third, while the women’s title went to Zetteeramawie followed by Liezazman and Lizawati Sedi.
Blacko Cyclelogy was the winning team in the sprint relay men category followed by Aijo Bikers and ZCC 3, while team Azmi/Ryehana captured the sprint relay mixed category ahead of Alfadz/Noor Hafizah and Lim/Stephani.
