Kota Kinabalu: The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah has intensified efforts to raise professional standards among engineers and keep members informed on the latest industry developments through a two-day technical training programme held at its Training Centre in Damai Point.
Both sessions were conducted by Ir. Dr Lee Yun Fook, Chairman of the IEM Professional Interview Development Sub-Committee, Professional Engineer, and senior member of IEM.
The morning session, titled “IEM Outcome-Based Professional Interview (PI) 2.0)”, attracted 36 participants, mostly graduate engineers preparing for professional registration.
Dr Lee briefed participants on the new interview framework introduced in Sept 2024, which features simplified applications, integrated reports, and evidence-based assessments aligned with international standards.
In the afternoon, 25 participants attended the session on “Wastewater Engineering Solutions,” where Dr Lee shared innovative approaches and practical examples from major wastewater projects, including the Jelutong and Yen So Sewage Treatment Plants.
Programme coordinator and IEM Sabah Executive Council Member, Ir. Wah KH, thanked Dr Lee for his contribution, emphasising that such sessions are vital in enhancing professional competency among engineers in Sabah.
“These knowledge-sharing programmes help prepare our members to meet modern engineering demands while promoting sustainable and forward-thinking practices,” he said.
