KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched a nationwide manhunt for seven Malaysians wanted in connection with a cross-border cybercrime syndicate uncovered by Singaporean authorities,
The Straits Times reported recently.
Federal CID director Datuk Seri M. Kumar said all seven have been placed on Malaysia’s wanted list, with an all-points bulletin issued to enforcement officers nationwide for their arrest.
The move follows Singapore’s arrest warrants against the Malaysians and 27 Singaporeans accused of duping hundreds of victims in impersonation scams that caused losses exceeding S$41 million.
Among the wanted individuals are two brothers, Tang Soon Fai, 25, and Tang Soon Wah, 31, believed to be linked to the Singaporean ringleaders, brothers Ng Wei Liang and Ng Wei Kang, in an operation allegedly coordinated from Phnom Penh.
Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Rusdi Mohd Isa said data profiling is under way to determine whether the suspects remain in Malaysia or have fled abroad, adding that police may seek assistance from the Foreign Ministry if necessary.
