KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Film and Visual Association (Safva) and the Malaysian Post-Production Professionals Association (MyPost) have formalised a strategic partnership through a Letter of Intent (LoI) in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen post-production capabilities nationwide.
Safva president Chester Pang said the collaboration reflects the association’s ongoing efforts to establish broader networks with experienced industry bodies and institutions.
He said the partnership with the reputable MyPost would accelerate human capital development in Sabah’s creative film industry.
“This is a proactive step to elevate local talents to national standards,” he said after the signing ceremony.
The LoI outlines three key objectives — professional standards alignment, knowledge and skills enhancement, and talent pipeline development.
MyPost chairman Isazaly Mohd Isa welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a practical platform for knowledge transfer and industry upskilling.
He said MyPost will offer advisory services and training through cost-effective approaches such as remote learning and targeted in-person workshops.
“These methods are crucial to improving the professionalism of Sabah’s filmmakers and producers efficiently,” he said.
The LoI will pave the way for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to ensure long-term cooperation between both associations.
As part of the initial rollout, two workshops will be held in Sabah next year focusing on professional compliance and creative-technical skills, witnessed by representatives from both Safva and MyPost.
