KENINGAU: The Biah Attackers team from SK Kampung Biah Keningau emerged champions in the Under-11 (U11) National level Kara7s Rugby Carnival held at the ERC Club field in Sandakan last month.
Second and third places were won by Sketsa Tigers from SK Tinusa and Kampung Boys Warriors from SK Bambangan, both from Sandakan.
A total of 16 teams from various states participated in the prestigious carnival, thus illustrating the high sportsmanship spirit among primary school students nationwide.
The Biah Attackers team were composed of talented young players who showed excellent performance throughout the tournament, consisting of Jarino Kelvin Jalius (Captain), Amirul Hadi Christopher, Danil Arthur Lawrence, Ervandy Edward, Rexlee Rommy, Muhd. Jefino Jairin, Riconell Celestin, Axelsen Dannson Danny, Stenly Aleyarez Bosseely, Edward Bryan Rufinus, Amiinullah Jainuddin and Muhd. Hazim Jazil.
This success has put SK Kampong Biah on the national primary school rugby map and has become an inspiration to other schools to continue developing the potential of students in the field of sports.
SK Kampong Biah Headmistress, Usrah Abd Wahid, said the success was the result of continuous training, high commitment and close cooperation between the school and coaches.
She said the success also have a strong support of the Keningau District Education Office (PPD) through the Sports Unit and Student Management Sector (SPM) which is actively developing rugby at the grassroots level.
“This victory is not just a school success, but proof that hard work, discipline and team spirit can produce champions even at the national level,” she said here.
Meanwhile, the team’s Head Coach, Rozy Yanty C. Madis, said the success was the result of intensive training carried out since the beginning of the year as well as the high discipline of the young players who were always enthusiastic every time they went into action.
“We instilled fighting spirit and self-confidence from the very beginning. It is hoped that this victory will open up more opportunities for primary school students to participate in rugby and to unearth new talents at the state and national levels,” she said.
