RANAU: Police personnel on duty during the election period must practise high professionalism, said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh bin Dikun.
He said they must be on alert, disciplined and fully responsible in carrying out their duties.
“In addition, police need to maintain the integrity and image of the force so that public confidence in the PDRM remains strong and guided by the law and standard operating procedures (SOP) when carrying out their responsibilities.
“Our duty is not just to uphold the law, but to ensure that every citizen can fulfill their responsibilities as voters in a peaceful and safe environment,” he stressed.
Jauteh was speaking on preparations ahead of the 17th Sabah Legislative Assembly General Election (GE) at the Ranau District Police Headquarters (IPD), Tuesday.
A briefing was delivered by the Ranau KPD at the Ranau IPD Meeting Room, which focused on aspects of security, logistics, management of polling centres and the preparedness of officers and personnel in the field.
Among other points of the visit was the inauguration of the new meeting room named Liwagu meeting room at the Ranau IPD and a “dry run drone” demonstration from the Kundasang area.
Jauteh visited the Ranau Community Hall, accompanied by the Ranau District Officer, Tinus Manggam, which will be used as one of the main voting centres.
