KENINGAU: The Henry Gurney School (SHG) Keningau released 14 prospects under the Licensed Release of Prisoners (PBSL) Madani Yakin programme titled “The Awaited Return” in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration on Thursday.
SHG Director Sirajuddin Abdul Majid said, when officiating the ceremony, the prospects should view this release as a new beginning to rebuild their lives and become individuals who contribute positively to their families, communities and the nation.
Nine prospects will undergo PBSL with job placements under employers, while the remaining five were released to stay with their respective families.
He expressed his deepest appreciation to all parties involved in the successful implementation of the PBSL Madani Yakin programme in conjunction with the 2025 Deepavali celebration.
The programme aims to provide eligible inmates the opportunity to serve the remainder of their sentences outside prison and within the community, as part of their rehabilitation and reintegration process into society.
Also present were the SHG Deputy Director Johari Chok Tang, Deputy Prison Superintendent and SHG Corrective Division Head Sharudin Tahir and the Interior District Parole and Community Service Office Head Stanley Jumin.
