Time to buck up and start winning games
The failure to score against the A1 League side was a clear indication how poor Sabah FC’s finishing are at the moment.
KUCHING City FC went home happy with three points after winning the Borneo Derby by securing a slim 1-0 margin over Sabah FC at Likas Stadium last Saturday.

It was another defeat for Sabah FC and the result meant our winless run extended to six matches since the start of the season.

We had lost three games and drawn three times to date and the three points collected from the draws put us second last in the table.

The team also managed to score only two goals after 540 minutes of playing time and had conceded 14, and I wonder if this is the worst ever start for Sabah FC in the Super League?

The league is currently taking a three-week break and that may help to restore the players’ morale, but we still have to play in the quarter-final first leg of the FA Cup against Kelantan The Real Warriors at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium on October 17.

We made it to the last eight following the 6-0 aggregate victory over Bunga Raya FC in the previous round.

However, all six goals were scored in the first leg and the second leg was scoreless, and it was definitely not a convincing display from the players.

It is now four games in a row now that we failed to find the net after the Kuching City FC match.

The league will only resume on October 26, where Sabah FC will be taking on Imigresen FC at the Stadium Negeri Pulau Pinang.

Darren Lok and Gabriel Peres are unlikely to start for both matches following the revelation from head coach Jean-Paul de Marigny that they will be sidelined for a rather long period due to some nasty injuries.

I guess we have no other choice but to rely on our reserves again. Whoever is fielded, Sabah FC really need to buck up and start winning games. I won’t want to sound the alarm bell yet, but if we proceed to dish out the present performance, it will be very difficult to get out of the rut.

Perhaps, the good side of this story is that we will be playing Imigresen FC, a team who are sitting in the last slot out of the 13 teams.

I believe Sabah FC should be able to get a win from this outing, and hopefully it can kick start our league season.
