Kota Kinabalu: SLXGrizzlies Utama Park Villa clinched the men’s open title at the TecZone Basketball Challenge Cup 2025 concluded at the Luyang Community Hall last Saturday.
They defeated GOM 88-59 in the final to claim the top prize, while in third place was Abadi Titans, who beat II Sports 87-79 in the play-off.
In the men’s master category, Boston Royce took the title with an 85-63 victory over Yung Fatt Scrap Metal S/B.
BCSB Mamba took third place after beating DBB66 65-56, while the women’s open title went to BK United with a three-game unbeaten run in the group and in second place was The Next Wrap followed by TZBC and JGT.
In the individual awards, tournament most valuable players went to Calvin Lee (Men’s Open), Mermadon Auza Bangna (Men’s Master) and Audrey Heng Qui Feng (Women’s Open).
Most valuable player in the finals were Brent Demond Kelly JR (Men’s Open), Kwaan Yoong Jing (Men’s Master), while Andrea Teo Shiat Yee claimed the most potential woman player title.
A total of 28 teams took part in the 17-day tournament organised by Teczone Basketball Club.
Organising Chairman Tai Ket Hau, who is also Teczone Basketball Club president, expressed his gratitude to the Youth and Sports Department for their financial support and also to L’Oréal Malaysia Sdn Bhd for the sponsorship as well as to his organising committee and technical crew for their hard work to ensure the success of the competition.
