Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Anthony Linggian conducted another accredited badminton umpire course held at the Pit Stop Café Meeting Room in Limbang, Sarawak recently.
A total of 21 participants with 19 from Limbang and two from Lawas took part in the two-day intensive course covering seven core modules.
Anthony, who has decades of experience, said he supplemented the theory with real-world case studies and video analyses for the participants to have better understanding.
“Key emphasis was placed on accuracy, fairness, professionalism, and soft skills such as leadership, empathy, and teamwork.
“I also called on all the participants to stay updated with the latest amendments, uphold integrity, and serve as role models within the badminton community,” said Anthony.
He added the course included a practical session under his supervision held at the Police Badminton Hall.
The course was officiated by President of Limbang Badminton Association Datuk Dr. H. Abdul Rahman H. Ismail, who is also the State Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development.
He is confident that following the success of the course, the newly trained umpires will contribute significantly to both local and state-level tournaments, reinforcing Sarawak’s badminton technical officiating standards.
