Kota Kinabalu: The Barisan Nasional (BN)-Pakatan Harapan (PH) cooperation in Sabah is not a desperate response to any political crisis, but a strategic move to ensure long-term stability for the State, says Libaran MP Datuk Suhaimi Nasir.
“Politics is not about who pats each other on the back today, but about who truly has the capacity to lead Sabah forward,” said Suhaimi, who is also Sabah Umno information Chief.

He was responding to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s announcement on Sunday that GRS would be working with PH to face the coming 17th state election (PRN17).
Suhaimi said the collaboration is not a “political lifeline” for any party but the result of careful discussions aimed at building a stable and inclusive government.
“BN Sabah is not a mere complement to any political coalition. We are not a second option. We are a team that is ready to lead this state, equipped with proven experience, solid organisational structure and real capacity,” he said in a statement.
He added that the ongoing political negotiations between BN Sabah and PH were part of their election preparations and were not motivated by personal or partisan interests.
“Since the beginning, BN Sabah has consistently emphasised the need to form a government that is truly stable, inclusive and people-focused – not one that depends on temporary arrangements or political manoeuvring,” he said.
