12 months' jail for Filipino over stolen handphone
KOTA KINABALU: A 24-year-old Filipino was jailed 12 months for having a stolen handphone.

Azlan Innyu, 24, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having the stolen gadget, which belonged to one Md Faiz Omar at 11am on Jan 9 at the Bumijaya Trading, Jalan Tombovo Ketiau, in Kg Ketiau, Penampang.

He was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or fine or both on conviction.

In another case, a 34-year-old Filipino was jailed two months for trespassing into a resort area here.

Meanwhile, two people were fined after they separately admitted to fraudulently having money in their respective bank accounts. 

Lily, 51, who appeared before Stephanie admitted to having RM3,700 in her BSN account on Nov 19, 2019 in which she failed to account satisfactorily how she obtained them.

She was fined RM100 or two weeks jail.

Chong Chung Yung, 61, was fined RM100 or one week jail after he admitted before Afiq to having RM3,500 in his RHB’s account on Sept 4, last year, in which he failed to account satisfactorily how he obtained them.

Both Lily and Chong were charged under Section 22A (1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance which provides for a fine of up to RM100 or up to three months jail or both on conviction.
