KOTA KINABALU: A total of 86 illegal immigrants were detained in an operation by the Sabah Immigration Department at several locations around the district.
The operation on Wednesday, conducted following public complaints, involved 24 officers.

A total of 125 individuals were inspected during the operation and 86 of them were detained for allegedly committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
Those detained comprised Philippine and Indonesian nationals who were found to be without valid travel documents or passes.
They are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
The department stressed that enforcement actions will continue to be intensified to curb the presence of illegal immigrants in the State.
It warned that stern action would be taken against any individual or employer found harbouring or employing illegal foreigners.
The public is also urged to continue providing information regarding the presence of undocumented foreign nationals to assist enforcement efforts and safeguard national security.
