IVE’s Jang Wonyoung sparks debate over airport immigration interaction
SEOUL: A video of IVE member Jang Wonyoung at Gimpo International Airport has attracted online attention and divided opinion among netizens.

According to Korean media, Wonyoung, 21, and her fellow group members were at the airport on May 30 preparing to fly to Shanghai, with most wearing hats and masks that covered much of their faces.

During passport verification at immigration, an officer asked Wonyoung to remove her mask and cap for identification, after which she was seen briefly lifting them before lowering them again.

The singer was later seen standing with her arms crossed while waiting for inspection and taking her passport with one hand before walking away.

Some netizens questioned whether her identity could be properly verified and criticised what they described as a “lofty attitude” or “diva” behaviour based on the interaction.

Comparisons were also drawn with fellow IVE member Gaeul, who was seen similarly lifting her cap and mask before receiving her passport with both hands and bowing to the officer.

Others defended Wonyoung, arguing that receiving a passport with one hand is common practice and that her actions were being overly scrutinised, with one netizen commenting: “It’s really not fair to be judging someone’s personality from a single video.”
