Investigators said the suspect was believed to have been involved in more than 40 burglary cases, with stolen items estimated to be worth about 8.2 million yen.
Authorities said the incidents typically occurred at night and involved entry through second-floor windows or unlocked access points, often leaving little visible damage.
Police reportedly believe the suspect may have used skills developed during years of stunt work, including climbing ability, agility and balance, to gain access to homes.
Reports said Ihara had worked as a stunt performer in Japanese tokusatsu productions, including titles from the
Super Sentai and
Kamen Rider franchises.
The case drew public attention because of the suspect’s connection to the superhero genre, although he was not a main actor from the
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series.
