RANAU: Eight individuals sustained injuries, three of them seriously, after an overloaded Perodua Bezza skidded off the road at Kg Kinaratuan, Ranau on Monday night.
Those injured including two men and a woman, while five others, including three children suffered minor injuries.
Chief of Ranau BBP, PPgB Rantey Fred said, the Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) responded to the emergency call, providing immediate assistance and ensuring the safety of the scene.
“The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received the distress call via NG999 at 9.08 PM. A team of seven firefighters from BBP Ranau, led by Operations Commander PBK I Mastin Suli, was immediately dispatched to the location, approximately 12 kilometers from the station.
“Firefighters extricated five victims who were trapped in the vehicle, while the remaining three had managed to free themselves before the arrival of the rescue team,” he said.
Rantey said the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) team from the Fire and Rescue Department provided initial medical treatment to all the injured individuals at the scene.
Subsequently, all victims were handed over to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) personnel for further medical attention and transport to the hospital.
