Kota Kinabalu: Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Kota Kinabalu is set to be known by a new name.
Mara chairman Datuk Wira Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the announcement on the new name will be made after obtaining formal consent from Head of State Tun Musa Aman.
He said the courtesy call was to formally convey Mara’s intention to seek Musa’s approval following an earlier announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that MRSM Kota Kinabalu would be named after Musa.
He added that the visit was also to seek Musa’s agreement to expedite the naming ceremony.
Dr Asyraf said Musa had expressed appreciation for the proposal and the official ceremony is expected to take place in the near future.
He said the official new name of the MRSM would be announced by the office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri in future.
Earlier, the Sabah Governor also received a courtesy call from WCT Berhad managing director Anthony Teoh.
Anthony said the visit was to present several development proposals to State Governor, including in the water supply sector and airport development.
