Heavy vehicles banned after Sukau road collapse
KINABATANGAN: Heavy vehicles remain barred from Jalan Sandakan–Lahad Datu near the KM90 Sukau Roundabout after a road collapse caused severe damage early Tuesday.

District Police Chief Supt D. Ravi said the incident was reported around 4.30am following an accident at the site.

Preliminary investigations found the road, a key link between Sandakan and Lahad Datu, was nearly cut off after heavy rain weakened a water spring beneath the structure, causing the ground to sink.

“A Proton Saga was involved, but the driver and passenger sustained no serious injuries and were treated at Hospital Kinabatangan,” he said.
