Budi Diesel expanded to pickup trucks and jeeps
Finance Minister II Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan
KUCHING: The Cabinet has agreed to expand the Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) programme to include company-owned private pickup trucks and jeeps, a move expected to benefit small business operators and users who rely on diesel vehicles for their daily work.

Finance Minister II Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the expansion is expected to benefit users who depend on diesel-powered pickup trucks and jeeps for small business activities, daily commuting and operations in rural and interior areas.

Under the expanded eligibility, company-owned vehicles classified as pickup trucks and jeeps will be allowed to access subsidised diesel under Budi Diesel, subject to conditions set by the Government.

“The expansion is among several enhancements approved by the Madani Government to ensure a smoother transition to the targeted diesel subsidy mechanism,” he said in a statement.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
The inclusion of company-owned private vehicles under the pickup and jeep categories broadens access to subsidised diesel beyond individual vehicle owners who were initially eligible under the programme.

Eligible vehicle owners in this category will be able to check their eligibility and submit applications through the official Budi Madani portal once the application system has been updated. The announcement comes as the Government prepares for the full nationwide implementation of Budi Diesel on July 1, 2026.

Under the programme, eligible Malaysians will be able to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre through MyKad verification.

Early access to Budi Diesel began on Saturday (June 27) for eligible private diesel vehicle users in Peninsular Malaysia, allowing them to purchase diesel at RM2.15 per litre during the transition period.
