CW Borneo Returns to Kota Kinabalu with Strong Focus on Sustainability, Digitalisation and Industry Capability
The International Construction Week (ICW) Borneo returns for its second edition from 12 to 13 May 2026 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, with a technical visit scheduled on 13 May 2026, bringing national-level construction industry dialogue and capability-building closer to stakeholders in East Malaysia.

Hosted by the Ministry of Works, Malaysia and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, and jointly organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., ICW Borneo 2026 builds on the momentum of its inaugural edition in Kuching, Sarawak last year. The rotation to Sabah reflects a continued commitment to decentralising access to industry knowledge, strengthening regional participation, and ensuring more inclusive development across Malaysia’s construction ecosystem.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
A key highlight of this year’s programme is the Construction Sustainability Summit (CSS) 2026, themed “From Ambition to Action: Delivering Sabah’s Sustainable Future”. The summit will convene policymakers, industry leaders, and built environment professionals to explore practical pathways in advancing sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy adoption, ESG practices, and low-carbon construction materials.

The programme will feature expert-led sessions addressing real-world challenges and solutions, including:
  • Renewable energy development through major projects such as hydropower
  • Engineering innovations in complex infrastructure delivery
  • ESG adoption and sustainable building practices in Sabah
  • Low-carbon materials and emerging construction technologies

Beyond the summit, ICW Borneo 2026 will deliver targeted technical sessions aimed at strengthening industry capability, particularly among contractors and professionals in East Malaysia.

These include:
  • A specialised forum on “Fair Contracts, Fair Outcomes – Managing Risks and Avoiding Disputes in Construction Projects”, addressing one of the industry’s most pressing concerns – contractual risk management and dispute avoidance, brings together legal and industry experts to share best practices.
  • A session on Building Information Modelling (BIM), themed “BIM Beyond Design: Towards Digital Construction in Borneo”, equipping participants with essential digital construction knowledge and tools in BIM technology and application.

From Dialogue to On-Ground Learning

The programme will incorporate a technical site visit on 13 May 2026, offering participants first-hand exposure to construction practices and project implementation in Sabah, bridging theory with real-world application.

“Beyond Limits” – Driving the Industry Forward

Aligned with the broader ICW 2026 theme, “Beyond Limits”, the Borneo edition challenges the industry to push beyond conventional approaches and accelerate transformation through innovation, collaboration, and digitalisation.

For Sabah and East Malaysia, this theme carries particular significance. It reflects the region’s growing role in Malaysia’s development landscape and its potential to lead in areas such as sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and modern construction practices.

Strengthening a More Inclusive National Construction Ecosystem

ICW Borneo continues to serve as a strategic platform to bridge East and West Malaysia, ensuring that construction professionals, contractors, developers, and stakeholders across all regions have access to the knowledge, networks, and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly complex and competitive industry.

As Malaysia advances towards a more resilient and future-ready construction sector, ICW Borneo 2026 reinforces the importance of inclusive growth, regional empowerment, and industry-wide collaboration.
