Kota Kinabalu: A 49-year-old man was fined a total of RM4,000 by the Sessions Court on Wednesday for possessing unregistered healthcare products and cosmetics without notification.
Judge Hurman Hussain imposed the sentence on Shagul Hameed Seeni Mohamed after he pleaded guilty to two charges.

For the first charge, Shagul was fined RM2,000 or four months’ jail in default for possessing 12 types of products, including aromatic oils, creams and ointments, which were not registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Division (NPRA), at a shop in Ranau on June 13, 2024.
The charge was framed under Paragraph 7(1)(a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984, punishable under Sub-Regulation 30(1) of the same Regulations and Section 12(1) of the Sale of Drugs Act 1952.
On the second charge, he was fined another RM2,000 or four months’ jail in default for possessing 11 types of cosmetics, including whitening creams and soaps, without notification at the same place and time, while Angeline Francis William from the Sabah Pharmacy Enforcement Branch appeared for the prosecution.
