Childcare operator denies running unregistered centre
The charge under Section 6(1) of the Child Care Centre Act 1984, carries a fine of up to RM10,000 or a jail term of not more than two years or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 30-year-old childcare centre operator was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here Thursday with operating an unregistered childcare centre.

Nurin Izzati Chaffli pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to operating an unregistered childcare centre at Pusat Asuhan Nur, University Utama Condominium, Telipok, on Jan 16 this year.

The charge under Section 6(1) of the Child Care Centre Act 1984, carries a fine of up to RM10,000 or a jail term of not more than two years or both, on conviction.

For a second or subsequent offence, the penalty provides for a fine of up to RM20,000 or imprisonment of up to five years or both. The court fixed June 30 for mention and released Nurin on bail of RM1,600 in two sureties.

In another case, a 41-year-old man was fined RM1,400 or one month’s jail for assaulting his colleague during a dispute over work duties. Mohd Asrul Jamidi pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to intentionally causing injury to one Andi Sahrul Andi Baso at Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd at 9am on May 4.

The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction. 

The court heard from the prosecution that the incident stemmed from an argument between the complainant and Asrul over work assignments at their workplace.

During the argument, Asrul struck the complainant using his hands on the neck and head. 

The complainant suffered pain and bruises to the back of his head, waist and legs as a result of the assault.
