Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has pledged to ensure a fair, transparent and just process for two students currently facing disciplinary action by the university.
In a statement on Monday, UMS said the process was initiated following information and reports received from the authorities and is intended to allow the parties involved to provide explanations while the university reviews all relevant facts and information.
The university stressed that every student would be given a fair opportunity in accordance with the principles of justice, good governance and existing university regulations.
UMS said it remains committed to the Higher Education Ministry's aspiration of nurturing knowledgeable, critical-thinking, ethical and responsible graduates, adding that student involvement in societal issues forms part of the learning and leadership development process.
It also urged all parties to respect the ongoing process and allow the university to carry out its responsibilities in a professional, fair and impartial manner.
