KENINGAU: A secondary school student here died in an accident involving a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a motorcycle on Jalan Keningau-Apin Apin in front of the school on Monday.
District police chief Supt Yampil Garai confirmed that the victim was Form Four student Jumir Andoroh from Kampung Pohon Batu, Nabawan.
He said police received information from the Emergency Unit of Keningau Hospital at about 8.30am on Monday regarding a patient being treated following a road accident.
Further investigations found that the accident happened at about 6.45am when the victim, who was riding to the Keningau Sports Complex to attend a school sports event, crashed into the rear of a Toyota Hilux at Jalan Keningau-Apin Apin in front of a secondary school.
He said the victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was pronounced dead at 9.48am while receiving treatment due to head injuries, while the driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle was unhurt, with the case being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
