TAMBUNAN: Firefighters prevented a fire from destroying a Toyota Rush following a road accident along Jalan Kampung Moloson here on Thursday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred at about 3.45pm, involved a vehicle carrying four individuals, including a woman, that reportedly skidded on its own before plunging into a roadside drain.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call before dispatching a team to the scene.

Upon arrival about 10 kilometres from the station, the team found three victims had sustained minor injuries while the driver was unharmed, and all had been extricated by members of the public before a small fire broke out in the engine compartment following the impact.

The operation saw firefighters extinguish the blaze using a hose reel, while the injured were given initial treatment and sent to a nearby hospital, with the operation assisted by police and concluded at 4.13pm after no further hazards were detected.
