The petrol was seized during separate operations carried out by the Kunak 22nd Battalion of General Operations Force (PGA) and Marine Police Force before being handed over to Semporna KPDN for further action.

In the first case, Kunak PGA seized 175 litres of petrol with a speedboat and outboard engine in an operation in Jeti Kayu, Jalan Kastam.

“The operation led to the seizure of 1,175 litres of petrol, estimated worth RM5,017.25,” said KPDN in a statement, adding both cases would be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Meanwhile, in LABUAN, KPDN has stepped up efforts to curb fuel subsidy leakages through an integrated Ops Tiris 4.0 operation with the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

KPDN Labuan Chief Enforcement Officer Amiluddin Malang said the operation, conducted at Jalan Rancha-Rancha, involved 18 enforcement personnel from both agencies and included a roadblock to monitor vehicles suspected of carrying controlled goods.

He said the operation is aimed at curbing smuggling and misuse of government subsidies, while ensuring compliance with the Control of Supplies Act and road transport regulations.

“Inspections focused on vehicles suspected of transporting controlled goods such as petrol and diesel, particularly lorries and goods vehicles that may conceal containers like jerry cans, drums or additional tanks,” he said.

He added that checks also covered other controlled goods, including sugar, wheat flour, cooking oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

According to him, inspections included verification of documents such as permits for scheduled controlled goods, special permits for petrol and diesel, controlled goods licences (CSA) and related invoices.

JPJ officers also carried out physical inspections of vehicle loads and ensured compliance with road regulations, including valid driving licences, road tax and vehicle condition.

KPDN conducted enforcement on controlled goods, including investigations and seizures in cases of non-compliance.

Amiluddin said KPDN Labuan appreciated the cooperation of all enforcement agencies involved, adding that such collaboration is vital to strengthen enforcement, curb subsidy leakages and safeguard consumer welfare in the Federal Territory.
