SANDAKAN: A total of 1,139 kilogrammes of subsidised packet cooking oil were seized in a raid by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) at a house used as a storage site for controlled goods on Thursday night.

The operation, carried out at about 9.47pm, followed a week-long intelligence effort by KPDN enforcement officers who detected the storage activity at the residential premises.

Sandakan KPDN enforcement chief Joe Azmi Jamil said inspections found 1,139 one-kilogramme packets of subsidised cooking oil kept in a room in the house.

He said initial investigations revealed the individual involved failed to produce any valid permit or licence to store the controlled goods.

The seized cooking oil, estimated to be worth RM2,747, was confiscated and a 20-year-old local woman believed to be responsible at the location had her statement recorded to assist further investigations.
