LAHAD DATU: Six men were detained and 10.68 grammes of syabu were seized during a three-day anti-drug operation conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) in collaboration with Desa Kencana police station from May 8 to May 10.
District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail, said the arrests were made during separate operations around Kg Sungai Bilis in Tungku, behind the hypermarket building on Jalan Reno Fajar, and along the roadside of Jalan Kg Puyut.

Police inspections uncovered syabu concealed inside bags, folded paper, and trouser pockets, along with drug paraphernalia believed to be used for drug abuse.
“Initial urine screening tests revealed that five of the six individuals tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.
Background checks also showed that one of the suspects had a previous record under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
All six men, aged between 20 and 45, are currently in police custody to assist in investigations under Sections 12(2), 39A(1), 15(1)(a), 9, and 37(b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The seized drugs have an estimated value of RM1,060.
Dzulbaharin added that Kg Puyut was identified as a hotspot for drug activity, with two arrests recorded there within a single day.
He emphasized that the police would not compromise on any drug-related activities and urged the public to continue providing information on such activities by contacting 089-881255, assuring that informants’ identities will remain confidential.

Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said an inspection of the suspect’s sling bag uncovered a packet believed to contain 0.25 grams of syabu and RM50 in cash.
“The suspect is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
