KUDAT: A 46-year-old man suffered burns to his back shoulder after a fire destroyed multiple homes in Kampung Gumpa here on Thursday.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 10.38am and arrived at the scene within three minutes, located about one kilometre away.

The blaze involved eight houses, including five semi-permanent structures that were 90 per cent destroyed, two non-permanent houses that were completely burnt, and one permanent house that sustained about 10 per cent damage.

A Proton Satria car and two motorcycles were also destroyed, while the victim received initial treatment from firefighters at the scene.

The fire was brought under control at 11.47am and the operation concluded at 2.15pm with a total of 25 personnel from multiple agencies involved.
