Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah State Railway Department (JKNS) is conducting two studies related to the state’s railway services, including a review of fares and a new route proposal, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick

Ewon, who is also State Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister, said the fare review study has reached 90 per cent completion and will be presented to the ministry before being brought to the state Cabinet.

“The fare review study has now reached 90 per cent completion and will first be presented to the ministry before being brought to the state Cabinet for further consideration,” he said.
He said the second study involves the feasibility of a new route from Putatan to Kota Kinabalu, extending to the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) and up to Sepanggar Port, which is expected to take 12 months.
Ewon added that JKNS is also contributing to the feasibility study of the Trans Borneo Railway project and will be involved in the Sabah Sustainable Transport Master Plan study set to begin this year.
