KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will step up efforts to ensure the state’s healthcare needs are effectively communicated and prioritised at the federal level, said State Minister of Women, Health and Community Wellbeing Datuk Julita Majungki after visiting Hospital Queen Elizabeth (HQE) on Tuesday.
She acknowledged structural challenges in major hospitals that require long-term planning and stressed no quick fixes exist.

Hospital management highlighted rising patient demand, capacity pressures, and the need for infrastructure expansion, better facilities, and improved operational efficiency.
Julita praised healthcare personnel for their heavy workload and said the state government will continue collaborating with the Sabah State Health Department and Ministry of Health to push for Sabah’s healthcare priorities.
Present at the visit were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, HQE Director Datuk Dr Abd Kahar Abd Asis, KWKKR Assistant Minister Datuk Rina Jainal, and Permanent Secretary Datuk Maria Chong.
