Kota Kinabalu: Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) Chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said the Jualan Agro Madani programme has transformed from a food sales initiative into a nationwide economic movement, recording 4,695 events in 2025 alone.
“The programme has generated RM101 million in sales involving more than 74,000 entrepreneurs and nearly seven million visitors nationwide,” he said at the Jualan Agro Madani Mega Kota Kinabalu held at the Lintasan Deasoka, Saturday night.

The event was officiated by Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Chan Foong Hin.
Aminuddin said the Jualan Agro Madani programme has established itself as a high-impact economic instrument for Malaysians.
“Since January to April this year, Fama has already implemented 400 programmes nationwide, recording combined sales of nearly RM6.1 million.
“This is not a seasonal programme. It has now become a people’s economic instrument with real impact,” Aminuddin said, adding that the scale is backed by independent research.
“Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), appointed by Fama to evaluate the programme’s 2024 effectiveness, found that every RM1 invested generated RM8.57 in sales value, while consumers enjoyed price savings of between 10 and 30 per cent compared to market rates.
“Entrepreneur income and consumer satisfaction levels regarding product quality, pricing and service were also recorded as high,” he said.
For the latest Kota Kinabalu edition, Aminuddin said, the event was deliberately held in the heart of the city to extend its reach to surrounding communities including Manggatal, Telipok, Tuaran and other nearby areas.
“In an environment where the cost of living is an ongoing concern, this programme allows families to obtain fresh food at affordable prices. Every ringgit saved here gives families more room to manage their daily lives,” he said.
He added that Sabah’s participation carries a significance beyond the immediate event, pointing to the State’s untapped potential in marine products, tropical agriculture and biodiversity as assets that could propel it into national and eventually regional markets.
“Sabah is not just a producing State. We want Sabah’s products to penetrate the national market and then the regional market. I believe that is our greater collective goal,” he said.
On that note, he urged Sabahans to see their purchases at the Jualan Agro Madani programme as more than transactions.
“Come in large numbers, buy local products and support our entrepreneurs. Every purchase here is an investment in the local economy, support for entrepreneurial income and a contribution to national food security,” he said.
