KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor says Sabah aims to strengthen its regional energy position by tapping its untapped deepwater exploration potential and inviting capable investors to develop sustainable upstream production.
He made the statement during a meeting in Kota Kinabalu with TotalEnergies EP Malaysia Managing Director Jerome Saniez.
TotalEnergies, which holds a 34.9pc stake in offshore Sabah exploration alongside Petronas Carigali and Shell, is also involved in multiple offshore blocks in Sabah and gas assets in Sarawak.
The company said Sabah remains a strategic growth area due to strong offshore potential, rising gas demand, and supportive policies from state and federal governments.
