Kuala Lumpur: Boss demands RM26.75 from resigning worker, claims viral online
A Malaysian employee has sparked online debate after claiming her former employer demanded RM26.75 from her for a tea break despite allegedly owing her a year’s worth of bonuses.
According to World of Buzz, the worker said she decided to resign after becoming frustrated over unpaid bonuses that had been promised for about a year.
She claimed that after submitting her resignation, her employer contacted her and asked her to pay for refreshments she had consumed during a tea break at the workplace.
The employee said the amount requested was RM26.75, which she found surprising given that the company had yet to settle the bonuses owed to her.
The claim and screenshots of the alleged conversation were later shared online, quickly drawing reactions from netizens.
Many social media users criticised the employer’s alleged demand, while others expressed sympathy for the employee over the dispute.
