Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Chief Minister II cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the State Cabinet has agreed in principle to corporatise the State’s water supply to enhance management efficiency and service delivery.
“In the last Cabinet meeting before the election (17th State Election), we requested the Water Department to appoint a consultant to conduct a study, which would then be presented to the Cabinet. So, we are still awaiting the report from the Water Department. But certainly, the last Cabinet meeting agreed that it needs to be corporatised for greater efficiency,” he said.

Masidi said corporatisation is aimed at strengthening the governance and operational structure of the State’s water utilities, ensuring that water supply services are more effective, reliable and sustainable for the people of Sabah.
The corporatisation initiative forms part of the State Government’s broader efforts to modernise public utilities and ensure essential services, like water supply, meet the growing needs of Sabah’s population.
