PENAMPANG: Sabah has launched two solar projects with a combined capacity of 28 megawatt aimed at boosting renewable energy generation and stabilising electricity supply in the State.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun officially launched both projects at Babagon Dam here on Wednesday.
The projects, implemented by government-linked company Jetama Sdn Bhd, comprise a 13.2-megawatt floating solar system at Babagon Dam and a 15-megawatt solar farm in Batu Sapi.
Both initiatives are backed by 25-year power purchase agreements to ensure long-term operational stability.
Masidi said the projects, among the earliest solar initiatives in Sabah, are expected to serve as a model for future renewable energy ventures while helping address electricity supply challenges and support sustainable development in the State.
