Han Ji goes one better this year

Kota Kinabalu: Last year’s runner-up Cho Han Ji captured the men’s gross title at the Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club’s Champion of Champions competition, which took place last Saturday.

He finished with a return score of 77, which put him five strokes ahead of his closest rival, Mohd Helmi Hafifudin, who scored 82 and trailed closely behind was John Ericson with a return score of 84.

In the ladies’ gross category, Sally Chai emerged victorious with a commanding score of 85. Following her were Park Ock Nam in second place with 89 and Hwang Young Yee in third with 93.

The rest of the nett winners in the tournament featuring champions from each monthly medal competition held from January to December in the previous year were ‘A’ category - Dr Zamree (68), Kanesan Narayanan (71), Kim Jeoong Deok (72); ‘B’ category - Park Myung Soo (72), HJ Fauzi Ismail (75), Mohd Safian Saluddin (76); ‘C’ category - Kamaruddin Sudin (71), Chean Tow Hoi (74) ; ‘Senior’ category – Lee Kui Liam (70), John Lim (71), Valerian H. Petrus (75); ‘Super Senior’ category - Joseph Wong (73), Lee Tae Sil (73), Woo Soo Poo (73); ‘Junior’ category - Muhd Harith Hafiy (85), Muhd Harith Haitollah (68), Nur Aryana Shafiyya Razali (69); ‘Ladies’ category - Mari Song (69) Mimi Kim  Mi Jung (72), Clare Lydia (77); ‘Ladies Senior’ category - Go Eun Jung (64), Kwan Pek Sin (73), Lisa Low (75).

He also said with an overwhelmingly positive response to the Monthly Medal competitions, more tournaments will be held in coming months.
