BELURAN: Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee has called on party president Muhyiddin Yassin to resign, accusing him of mishandling an internal crisis and misusing disciplinary processes to silence senior leaders.
Ronald criticised the party’s disciplinary board action against deputy president Hamzah Zainudin and several division chiefs aligned with him, saying it was a regressive move that contradicts efforts to strengthen the party ahead of elections.
He claimed the process appears aimed at suppressing dissent and protecting Muhyiddin’s position, making Bersatu look directionless in the eyes of the public.
He also alleged the turmoil risks damaging trust within the Perikatan Nasional coalition, and accused Muhyiddin of clinging to power to pursue a personal agenda of returning as prime minister while blocking Hamzah’s future leadership path.
Ronald said Muhyiddin should consider stepping aside to rebuild the party and repair strategic ties with coalition partners, adding that such a move would reflect the statesmanship Muhyiddin himself once advocated in 2008 regarding leadership responsibility.
