PITAS: Sabah Action Body Advocating Rights (Sabar) held its Cerita Kita – Sesi Kupi-Kupi Bersama Belia Pitas pilot session under the Belia Says initiative to listen to and understand the lived experiences of rural youths.
The session involved 30 participants and was organised in collaboration with Acacia Forest Industries (AFI) and Hai Mandak.

SABAR chairman Datuk Zainie Abdul Aucasa said the engagement builds on the organisation’s Voices to Action initiative last year, which produced a document containing 117 aspirations and demands presented to government bodies and political parties, some of which have since seen action.
SABAR Youth chair Adelina Adna Adenan outlined Sabar as a non-political and non-religious NGO with 11 advocacy pillars, while a short talk by former City Hall director-general Datuk Chua Kim Hing highlighted the need for long-term solutions and mindset change to address Sabah’s rubbish problem.
Facilitated by the Hai Mandak team, the session saw youths raise concerns, including poor roads, water disruptions, power outages, waste management issues and limited job opportunities, with Sabar saying Cerita Kita is a listening-first platform that will be expanded to engage youths across Sabah.
