Kota Kinabalu: Major General Shamshor Jaafar has assumed command of the 5th Infantry Division as its seventh commander, taking over from Major General Datuk Noorrul Azril Ariffin, in a formal handover ceremony held at the 6th Regiment Royal Artillery parade ground at Camp Lok Kawi, recently.

The ceremony featured a parade involving 15 officers and 263 other ranks, accompanied by the 5th Division Combined Formation Band.

Army’s Eastern Field Command Commander Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi witnessed the official transfer of authority.

Noorrul held the position of 5th Malaysian Infantry Division Commander since Sept 11, 2024.
