The 2026 state budget allocates RM12.02 billion for 1,173 development programs aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan and Sustainable Development Goals.
SMJ 2.0 focuses on four pillars—Sabah First, Sabah Forward, Sabah Prosper, and Sabah United—and five objectives: social unity, revenue optimization, economic diversification, people’s economy, and human capital development.
Key thrusts include industrial growth, tourism, and agriculture; human capital and people’s well-being; and infrastructure connectivity with green sustainability.
Hajiji highlighted major industrial investments, including the RM31 billion Esteel project at Sipitang, and strategic industrial parks in KKIP, SOGIP, POIC Lahad Datu, and future regional sites.
Tourism aims to attract high-quality visitors, while heritage, culture, and environmental conservation remain priorities.
Agriculture targets increased self-sufficiency in rice and livestock, supported by modern machinery and biotechnology initiatives, alongside expansion of fisheries under the Sabah Blue Economy.
SMJ 2.0 emphasizes AI, digitalization, fiscal sustainability, and inclusive development as key enablers for Sabah’s growth.
