KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi confirmed Sarawak is heading for a State election this year, with the timing to be decided by the Premier, Dayak Daily reported.

Speaking on The Breakfast Grille on BFM 89.9, the Works Minister and Kapit MP said the election is constitutionally due as the current assembly’s five-year term is nearing its end.

He said the month would be the prerogative of Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and declined to offer any indication when pressed by the presenter.

On prospects of another landslide, Nanta said there would be no guaranteed walkover, noting Sarawak currently has 82 State seats.
